How to play Okey
Step-by-step Okey for a first table, including what the Tilehaus interface expects you to click.
Good to know
- Classic Okey uses the same 106-tile inventory as Rummikub.
- The indicator is drawn from the set. The okey is the next rank in that color (13 wraps to 1 of the next color in Tilehaus).
- Players hold 21 tiles; the dealer starts with 22 and discards first.
Before the first tile
Open the Okey table. Choose seat count 2–4 (classic tables are 4). For a first game, enable bots so empty seats still draw and discard on time.
Watch the discard
Taking a discard telegraphs a meld. If you are close to a show, prefer the center pile so you do not advertise the last rank you need.
Count okeys
There are two copies of the okey face plus two printed jokers in the 106-tile set. Seeing one okey discarded is rare and usually safe to ignore.
Questions
Is Okey the same as Rummikub?
They share the 106-tile set. Okey uses an indicator wild and a 21-tile show. Rummikub plays groups onto a shared table with a 30-point opening.
