Mahjong scoring on a teaching table

What Tilehaus scores, what Hong Kong old rules score, and what Japanese han/fu score — without mixing them.

Play Mahjong

Animated how-to: win mahjong with four groups and a pair, tap a tile you do not need, throw it away, then take three of a kind or pass.
Watch once — it loops. The words underneath are if you want them.

Do not mix charts

If you sit at a Hong Kong club with a faan chart, ignore the Tilehaus numbers. If you sit at a riichi club, ignore them too. The teaching chart exists so a browser hand can end with named patterns.

What the teaching table awards

Self-draw, dragon pungs, seat wind, round wind, all pungs, mixed or pure one suit, all honors, and no honors. Points are 2 to the power of faan, capped at 128. Zero faan is a chicken hand and pays 1.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to what people search — for Google, voice, and assistants.

Does Tilehaus use faan now?

Yes, on the Chinese teaching table. A win lists patterns (dragon pung, seat wind, self-draw, all pungs, mixed/pure suit, all honors). Points are 2^faan with a 128 cap. A chicken hand (0 faan) pays 1. This is a teaching chart, not an official Hong Kong club schedule.

Will Tilehaus add full han/fu?

Riichi still uses a flat teaching bonus. Han/fu lookup is the next scoring module.
